"My background is in illustration: I worked for many years doing book covers and calendars, which were published in this country and internationally. I came into the field of commmercial graphic design during my time at The Laurel of Asheville Magazine, where I started as an ad sales rep, and then became ad designer. (I still do contract work for them.) But I started my own graphics business because I had developed a passion for the work, for helping people conceptualize the images they would use to promote their businesses. I expanded the repertoire of the kind of work I do, promoting arts events and producing other types of marketing material. Design-wise, stylistic variations come naturally to me; but personally I love to balance the traditional and the modern. It's the intersection of the past and future that defines the present moment...and that can give a design the feeling of timelessness."
